Coal production at Snibston Colliery ceased a week and a half later on 16th December 1983, though coal from Whitwick Colliery, which was connected underground, continued to be brought to the surface at Snibston until June 1986.[1]

4-of-5) On a later occasion, a locomotive waits at the end of the branch from Snibston Colliery while loaded wagons are shunted at the exchange sidings on the Leicester to Burton line, Coalville, 1984. This locomotive had probably helped bring the wagons from the colliery and was waiting for the shunting to be completed before returning.
